One of the women in our Essential Olie Tree, Sue has tried and tested Cedarwood essential oil against carpet fleas.
It lead me to searching for a recipe that is easy to make and use that’s also low toxic.
I didn’t have carpet fleas, but I did have carpet, and found that it also worked as a good carpet deodoriser.
Personally, I measured the baking soda and washing soda into my thermomix then add the 30 drops of cedarwood essential oil then gave it a good whizz til it was nice and fine. I then added the powder into a chocolate/icing sugar shakers then simply sprinkled it onto the carpet. Left it to sit for a few hours whilst I was cleaning the rest of the house, then vacuumed. Trust me, when I say, I love it as a carpet cleaner/deodoriser. It’s a multi-purpose carpet deodoriser. If you have pets or leave near bushland, it will also serve as a carpet flea killer.
In addition to the insecticidal property, cedarwood will also make you feel calm and relaxed with it’s sedative properties. It also has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Using cedarwood in your DIY cleaning products will support your body unlike conventional chemical-based products that are making us sick.
