Weeds

Weeds

I’m terrified on using toxic weeds killer around our home.  Have you ever googled the ingredients, and the harmful side effects?  I have and I almost instantly started googling natural alternatives.  I’ve tried a few recipes, and played around with some recipe to tweak them to create my own low toxic version.

I usually use white vinegar that I buy from Costco.  However, you can also use cleaning white vinegar if you prefer to use it.

Cleaning White Vinegar contains 6% acidity.  Whilst White Vinegar that you buy in the supermarket and that I buy from Costco is only 5%.  This doesn’t sound like a big difference, but white cleaning vinegar is approximately 20% stronger.  But, it’s only for cleaning, not for consuming.  I also find that I personally can’t justify the price tag and feel that regular white vinegar does the job, so why pay more?!

I love adding some dōTERRA Lemon Essential Oil, which because it’s photo-toxic helps to burn the weeds in the sunlight.

So, here is how I use it:

  • Wait for a nice sunny day.  I usually focus on a section ie front or back.
  • Spray the weeds.
  • Let the sun react with the vinegar, epsom salts and lemon essential oil to burn and kill the weeds

If you have a lot of weeds then do what I have done previously:  make up a larger quantity in a bucket and use a small measuring jug to pour onto the weeds.  I found this extremely useful when we first moved in our latest home as the garden was covered far too many weeds.

If you don’t yet have essential oils start your journey now and join me and my team.  If you already have your wholesale customer account, then I hope your adding Lemon essential oil to your next Australian order.
